Drying & Handling Equipment for Fertilizer Production
Fluidized bed dryers and coolers, rotary coolers, bucket elevators and storage silos for NPK, urea, ammonium nitrate, DAP and organic fertilizer granule production lines.
Fertilizer granule production requires precise moisture and temperature control at the drying and cooling stages to produce a free-flowing, non-caking product with good mechanical strength. Fluidized bed dryers provide the precise temperature and residence time control needed for NPK granules, urea and ammonium nitrate products — where over-drying causes brittleness and under-drying causes caking in storage. Fluidized bed coolers reduce product temperature to safe handling levels after drying.
Rotary coolers are the standard for high-capacity operations where fluidized bed footprint is a constraint. Bucket elevators are the preferred method for vertical transport of dry fertilizer granules — enclosed, dust-tight, and capable of handling the fragile granule product without attrition. Product silos with cone-bottom discharge provide the buffer storage between production and bagging or bulk loading operations.
Key Process Challenges
- 1
Product caking during storage if outlet moisture is too high — tight moisture spec ±0.2%
- 2
Granule breakage in conveyors reducing product quality and causing dust
- 3
ATEX classification for ammonium nitrate and urea dust handling areas
- 4
Seasonal demand variation requiring flexible capacity from dryer and cooler systems

View product →Our Technical Approach
Ammonium nitrate and compound NPK products require outlet moisture control to ±0.2% to prevent storage caking — fluidized bed dryers deliver this; rotary dryers typically cannot. Conveying circuits for AN and urea are ATEX-classified for dust explosion groups B and C. These parameters are specified at quotation stage, not during detailed engineering.
