Warehouses, Logistics Depots & Cold Storage Buildings

Steel warehouse and storage buildings — clear-span, insulated, built to last at European industrial sites.

Lozzar Process designs and supplies steel warehouse and logistics buildings as part of complete industrial site packages or as standalone structures. All buildings are based on portal frame structural systems with clear-span layouts — no internal columns to obstruct forklift or racking operations. Insulated composite panel (sandwich panel) cladding is standard for temperature-controlled or weatherproofed storage.

Warehouse Building Types

Clear-span portal frame warehouses are the industry standard for logistics and storage. A single-bay portal frame spans 20–60 m without intermediate columns, providing maximum floor space utilisation. Multi-bay warehouses add intermediate valley columns while maintaining clear spans within each bay. Standard eaves heights for logistics operations are 7–12 m (to accommodate racking systems up to 6–8 m tall with forklift overhead clearance).

Loading dock design is a critical part of warehouse construction. Dock levellers allow trucks of varying heights to be loaded and unloaded efficiently. Each dock typically requires a dedicated structural steel frame, concrete slab at dock height, and an automated or mechanical leveller plate. Dock seal systems prevent heat loss.

Cold storage buildings require enhanced insulation — typically 100–200 mm PIR (polyisocyanurate) composite panels — and vapour barriers to prevent condensation within the panel structure. Floors require insulated slab design with anti-heave measures for frozen storage below 0°C.

Mezzanine floors within warehouse buildings allow efficient use of vertical space for secondary storage or office functions without compromising ground-floor clear span.

Building Selection Guide

General ambient storage (dry goods, equipment, packaged products)

Standard portal frame building, 80–100 mm sandwich panels, eaves 8–10 m

Temperature-controlled storage (+2°C to +15°C)

Insulated portal frame building, 150 mm PIR panels, vapour barrier

FAQ

Yes. Integral mezzanine floors and attached offices are designed into the building from the outset. Adding them after construction is more complex and expensive.
