Equipment Support Platforms, Stairs & Walkways

Structural steel access — platforms, stairs and walkways designed around your equipment layout.

Lozzar Process designs and supplies structural steel platforms, access stairs and safety walkways as part of complete process plant packages or as standalone fabrication. All structural steelwork is designed to Eurocode standards and EN 1090-2, with CE marking included as standard. Finishes include hot-dip galvanising, epoxy primer and topcoat, or combination systems depending on environment.

Design and Construction Standards

Equipment platforms are designed to carry dead loads (equipment weight) plus live loads (maintenance personnel, tools) in accordance with Eurocode 1 (EN 1991). The primary frame is typically hot-rolled I-section (HEA/HEB) or RHS columns and beams. Secondary framing uses lighter IPE or RHS members. Grating panels (bar grating or expanded metal) form the walking surface.

Access stairs are designed to EN ISO 14122 standards for permanent means of access to machinery. Stair angles are typically 45° for industrial access (as opposed to 60° for ladders or 30° for building stairs). Handrails and toe boards are included as standard.

Walkways and access bridges connect platforms or allow maintenance access around large equipment such as rotary dryers, evaporators or storage tanks. Where platforms need to be relocated for maintenance access, bolted connections are used throughout — no site welding required.

All structural drawings include material certificates, weld procedure qualifications, and a CE Declaration of Performance under EN 1090-1 (execution standard EN 1090-2, Execution Class EXC2 as standard).

FAQ

Both. Most platform and stair fabrication is ordered together with the process equipment as a package. We also accept standalone structural steel fabrication orders.
