Forced Circulation Crystallizers are of the mixed suspension and mixed product removal type. These crystallizers operate at a controlled crystal slurry density depending on process requirements and mass balance. They can have single or multiple bodies/effects and are generally used together with thermal vapor recompression (TVR) or mechanical vapor recompression (MVR) technologies. They can operate from low vacuum to atmospheric pressure depending on crystallization process needs.
When used with a crystal leg, a forced circulation crystallizer offers a more efficient design. The forced circulation design overcomes viscosity limitations, provides a high level of control and stability, and significantly reduces fouling.
Advantages:
- Used in processes with high levels of impurities causing fouling
- Provides long operating times with short maintenance periods
- Optimized design with circulation pump to reduce cleaning frequency
