Gas passes from outside to inside of filter bags. Dust accumulates on the outer surface as a "dust cake." Periodically, high-pressure air pulses (5–7 bar, 100–200 ms) fire through a blowpipe above each row, momentarily reversing gas flow and dislodging the dust cake. Dislodged dust falls into the hopper and is discharged by rotary valve. The dust cake itself improves filtration — a loaded bag filters finer particles than a new bag.
