Thermal Vapor Recompression (TVR) technology provides energy savings in evaporation processes by reducing live steam usage. Low-pressure vapor from the evaporator enters the TVR under vacuum and then combines with live steam, being used in the heating exchanger as a heat source to warm the evaporation solution. This technology consumes much less steam than direct steam-heated designs, but requires motive steam pressure. To reduce energy consumption, it is applied in the first effect of single, double, or triple-effect evaporators. TVR technology is suitable for solutions with low boiling point elevation due to its critical steam recompression ratio.
Advantages:
- Mechanically robust design (no moving parts)
- Low steam consumption
- Simple and flexible operation
- Reduced cooling water usage
