Forced circulation evaporators are used for liquids prone to crystallization, inverse solubility liquids, or for concentrating thermally degradable materials. High recirculation rates allow high liquid velocities along the tubes, helping to minimize the accumulation of deposits or crystals on the heating surface. Forced circulation evaporators offer a more robust design compared to falling film evaporators. In falling film designs, viscosity limitations may occur due to film breakdown, leading to dry spots in heat exchanger tubes. The forced circulation design overcomes viscosity limitations, providing high levels of control and stability, as well as a significant reduction in fouling.
Advantages:
- Used in processes with high levels of impurities that cause fouling
- Provides long operating times with short maintenance periods
- Optimized design with recirculation pump to reduce cleaning frequency
